Malaysia rugby player, Lawrence Petrus has agreed to join University of Western Australia (UWA) for the upcoming season. The 25-year-old forward will take the opportunity to play in the Western Australia Rugby League in starting this April. He will travel to Perth at the end of February and train with his new club before the league kick-off. Standing at 178cm tall, the deal was made possible by his manager, Khairul Shazwan.
Lawrence has played for Malaysia senior team for two years in the Premier Division of the Asia Rugby Championship. The 2019 Agong's Cup winner with Terengganu is excited with the move and wants to be featured in as many matches as possible. He also hope that more Malaysian players will take-up new challenges by playing in foreign leagues. Since 2013, Lawrence has played for a number of clubs in Malaysia including Bintulu Rugby Club, OSCA Warriors and UPM Serdang Angels.
