FIJI, NEW ZEALAND READY TO GO FOR OLYMPIC GOLDS

Defending Olympic champions Fiji won all matches to clinch the Oceania Sevens title. The Flying Fijians were undefeated in six matches at the warm-up tournament ahead of Tokyo Olympics, which will begin in less than 30 days.

The 2016 Olympic rugby gold medalists in Rio de Janeiro, beat hosts Australia 26-14 to make a winning start to the competition at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. Fiji completed the tournament in style by defeating Oceania Barbarians 33-5 and a 17-7 win over New Zealand on Sunday. With the good combination of young and senior players, Gareth Baber will have a tough time to pick the best 13 players to defend the gold medal in Japan.

In the women's event, New Zealand were also unbeaten throughout the tournament. The reigning women's world and Commonwealth Games champions, thrashed the Oceania side 51-0 and were on fire again in their 33-14 triumph against Fiji. Olympic champions Australia women lost to both New Zealand and Fiji and finished with a 3-3 record.
