MALAYSIA RUGBY UNION TO WORK WITH UPSI FOR RUGBY DEVELOPMENT


Malaysia Rugby Union (MRU) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) to become a world class 'One Stop Centre' for rugby activities in the country. The signing ceremony was completed by MRU President Shahrul Zaman Yahya, UPSI Vice Canselor Dr Md Amin Md Taff, and witnessed by Akademi Ragbi Malaysia (ARM) Chairman, Ahmad Effendi Abd Razak.

The agreement is a good start to the positive move by MRU to empower rugby community with knowledge through ARM. Located in Tanjung Malim, UPSI will be an educational hub for national rugby courses and seminars. The University will also become a venue for domestic and international tournaments. MRU are also planning to use the university's facilities for national team's centralised training centre.

UPSI is one of the oldest education institutions in Malaysia. Opened in 1922, the university have produced many great individuals in the country. It is a clear vision that the university's expertise will be a great value for MRU in sports science and coaching. In addition to their excellent sports facilities, UPSI can also be a centre of research and development for rugby.

Akademi Ragbi Malaysia is a new development initiative by MRU. It will function as an advance learning programme for rugby in the country, in line with World Rugby certifications. The programme will benefit all level of rugby community toward professionalism and new ideas.
