KELANTAN, SELANGOR, JOHOR SEIZE SEVENS GLORY


The Malaysia Rugby National Sevens Championship 2025 delivered three days of intense rugby action at Stadium Tengku Muhammad Ismail, Terengganu, featuring top teams from across the nation in four fiercely contested categories.

In the Men’s Open, Kelantan reclaimed national glory with a thrilling 17-12 win over Johor in the final. With clinical execution and unwavering grit, they overcame a spirited Johor side in a match that went down to the wire. Zulhisham Rasli was named Best Player for his game-changing performance. Selangor overwhelmed hosts Terengganu 34-0 to claim third place.

Johor continued their dominance in the Men’s U21 division, clinching their fourth consecutive title after a tense 15-10 victory over Selangor. Kelantan beat Kedah 29-7 for third. Johor’s Luqman Nul Hakim stood out as Best Player.


In the Women’s Open, Selangor made history with their third straight championship title, delivering a stunning 29-0 shutout against hosts Terengganu. The team displayed superior cohesion, discipline, and pace throughout the tournament. Perlis edged Johor 12-5 in the third-place match. Dinah Syafiqah led by example and was named Best Player for her powerful carries and relentless defence.

Selangor also finally ended their long wait in the Women’s U21, overpowering Terengganu 29-0 after four runner-up finishes since 2018. Johor placed third after defeating Perak 19-7. Rising star Noor Azzuwa earned Best Player honours for her dynamic all-around play.

The championship wrapped up with thrilling matches, breakout talents, and a celebration of Malaysia’s vibrant sevens rugby scene.
