A new chapter in Palestinian sports history began in Ramallah as the Palestinian Rugby Federation successfully organised the inaugural Palestine Rugby Sevens Championship at Friends Stadium. It is a moment of pride, passion, and progress.
In a powerful display of determination and unity, three trailblazing teams took the field: Al Ain from Nablus, Falestin Falcons of Ramallah, and Beit Sahoor representing the south and Bethlehem. After thrilling sevens action, Al Ain etched their name in history as the first national champions, igniting a fire for rugby across the region.
This groundbreaking tournament is more than a game, it’s a mission. A mission to nurture local talent, scout future national stars, and empower coaches, referees, and managers. The Federation now sets its sights on expanding participation, including women’s involvement, and building a robust rugby culture in Palestine.
Federation President Rabee Al-Masri saluted the players, officials, and organizers, reaffirming the commitment to grow the game, despite all challenges. This is just the beginning. Rugby has arrived in Palestine, and it’s here to thrive.
