RAIN, MUD & GLORY FOR SUPARK GRIZZLY AT SELAYANG 10S

The inaugural RW Selayang 10s Rugby Championship had everything a rugby fan could dream of tries, tackles, mud, rain, and of course, plenty of noise from the spectators who refused to budge despite the weather.

The Cup Final was the headline act. Supark Grizzly lived up to their fierce name, clawing past Semashur Zealord with a convincing 21-0 victory. Heavy rain turned the pitch into a muddy battlefield, but that didn’t stop the Grizzlies from charging forward. Tries came courtesy of Muhammad Haziq, Zamir Irfan, and Farhad Fairos, with Aiman Nazmi coolly converting all. The brilliant Zamir Irfan earned the Best Player Award, showing why he’s a fan favorite.

The hosts, Rhinoz Warriors, gave their supporters reason to cheer too, smashing Impact Oldboys 24-0 in the Plate Final, powered by Best Player Muhammad Irsyad. Meanwhile, the Bowl Final was a nail-biter, with Shah Alam Rovers edging Kobau RC 7-5, thanks to Best Player Arif Hakimi Rosnan. In the Shield Final, Home of Warriors stormed past OPA Black Scorpions 24-5, with Muhammad Arif Hakimi Othman stealing the spotlight.

But behind the tackles and tries, heroes off the field also played their part. Ahmad Zahiri, Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) Member, not only officiated the event but also injected motivation (and crucial funds) to keep the tournament alive. Longtime supporters Tigers Super Sports and Laundry Bar continued their tradition of backing Rhinoz Warriors, proving rugby in Selayang is built on more than just sweat, it’s built on community spirit.

Rain, mud, and roaring crowds turned this first-ever RW Selayang 10s into an unforgettable rugby festival. One thing’s certain, Selayang loves its rugby, and the rugby world will hear more from it!
