ARGENTINA, USA CROWNED MONTEVIDEO SEVENS CHAMPIONS


Argentina, South Africa, Spain, Germany and the USA have taken a major step forward on the global stage, securing qualification for the season-ending HSBC SVNS World Championship Series with one round of SVNS 2 still to play.

Argentina’s women continued their impressive rise by claiming back-to-back SVNS 2 titles, winning four of their five matches in Montevideo. Their consistency sealed qualification and underlined their growing status, with Maria Brigido Chamorro earning Player of the Tournament honours. Spain and South Africa followed closely in second and third, reversing their Nairobi standings to also secure places in the upcoming championship events in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux.

The race is not over yet, with China holding the final qualifying spot heading into São Paulo, while Brazil and Kenya remain in strong contention for a late push.

In the men’s competition, Germany and the USA confirmed their qualification after standout performances in Montevideo. The USA were unstoppable, winning all five matches to claim the title, with Will Chevalier named Player of the Tournament. Germany also impressed to secure their place.

Kenya and Uruguay currently occupy the remaining qualification spots, but with Belgium and Canada still within reach, the final round in São Paulo promises high drama and decisive battles.
