The UPSI 2023 Rugby Tournament came to an exciting conclusion on Sunday in Tanjung Malim with the UPSI Eagles defeating KKB RC 12-5 in the Men's Cup final. Both finalists squeezed their semi-final opponents earlier in the day, with the Eagles beating Kasaq RC by 19-7 to make the final. In the other semi-final, KKB withstood a strong challenge from Phyton RC to win 14-12.
UCS Simba clinched the UPSI 2023 Women's title after coming back from 0-5 down to win the final against DKI Jakarta. They scored two tries in the second half to seal the title with a 12-5 victory. DKI Jakarta reached the final after defeating Job Queen 10-0 in the last four. UCS Simba beat Dingoes RC 17-12 to secure a place in the final.
UCS Lions won the IPT category after a comfortable 24-0 victory over UPSI Eagles in the Cup Final. The Lions hammered UMT Stingrays 36-0 to reach the final, while the Eagles beat BMI Bumblebees 22-0 in the other semifinal.
In the veteran category, Brob Parametric beat Sajoha Kurekure 21-0 in the final to clinch the title. KKB Tigers finished in third place after a 21-7 victory over X-Lions. The two-day tournament hosted by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim was participated by 38 teams from Malaysia and Indonesia.
