The Philippine Volcanoes made a fiery return to glory, capturing the 2025 Union Cup title in stunning fashion after defeating Thailand 23–6 in the final at Kaohsiung National Stadium, Taiwan. Coached by Josh Torres Sutcliffe, the Volcanoes made their debut in the tournament and left no doubt, history was made once again.

The first half was tightly contested, with Ned Ralph Stephenson powering over for a try and Kai Stroem slotting a penalty to give the Philippines an 8-6 halftime lead. The second half, however, belonged entirely to the Volcanoes. Stephenson scored again, joined by James Halasan Ryan, while Stroem calmly added a conversion and another penalty to seal the commanding win.

The Philippines booked their place in the final after overpowering defending champions Singapore 37-20, while Thailand edged Chinese Taipei 20-19. Chinese Taipei later took third place, beating Singapore 27-22.

It is the Philippines' first major international triumph since 2019. With Thailand set to host in 2026 and Guam entering the fold, the Union Cup just got hotter and the Volcanoes have reignited their legacy.
