Malaysia etched their name into history by capturing the inaugural SEA Women’s XVs Championship 2026 in breathtaking fashion, dismantling the Philippines 78–0 in a performance of pure dominance. It was the final test match of the tournament involving three rising Asian rugby nations. And Malaysia saved their very best for last.
Six days earlier, Malaysia had been held to a tense 15–15 draw with Singapore. When Singapore defeated the Philippines 51–0, the equation became clear: Malaysia needed not just a win, but a statement. And what a statement it was.
From the opening whistle, Malaysia played with discipline, intelligence, and relentless tempo. Their structure was sharp, their defence uncompromising, and their attack devastatingly clinical. A commanding 38–0 halftime lead set the tone before they powered on to record the biggest victory in Malaysia women’s 15s rugby history. Rozliana Mohd Ridwan, Maslina Ahmad Ismail, and Kajolin Jensen were exceptional, leading by example in a historic triumph.
The occasion was made even more special as Philippines Rugby President Ada Milby returned from retirement to stand alongside her team.
The result crowned Malaysia champions, with Singapore finishing as worthy runners-up and the Philippines taking third place. The SEA Women’s XVs Championship marks a powerful new chapter. From 7s to now 15s, women’s rugby in the region is rising, bold, ambitious, and full of promise.
