The Japan women's national rugby union team once again proved why they are the powerhouse of Asian women’s rugby after storming to the Asia Rugby Emirates Women’s Championship 2026 title with a sensational 71-12 victory over Hong Kong women's national rugby union team in Almaty.

The Sakura XV delivered a breathtaking display of pace, power, and precision, dominating from the opening whistle to secure the championship in emphatic fashion. After defeating Kazakhstan in the opening round, Japan entered Game 2 full of confidence and immediately imposed themselves through an early try from Otoka Yoshimura. Accurate kicking from Minori Yamamoto kept the scoreboard moving as Japan unleashed relentless attacking rugby.

Further tries from Jennifer Nduka, Moe Nagaoka, and Juka Fuji gave Japan complete control, while Rinka Matsuda starred with a brilliant hat-trick performance.

Despite brave efforts from Hong Kong China through Sabrina Chung and Yuei-Tein Fion, Japan’s attacking momentum never slowed.
