SUPER RUGBY FINALS RACE BEGINS NOW

After 16 weeks of fierce competition, breathtaking tries, and dramatic twists, the Super Rugby Pacific Finals Series has finally arrived.

The Qualifying Final matchups have been locked in, and fans are set for a blockbuster weekend as the race for the championship reaches its most intense stage.

The biggest movement came in the final round of the regular season, where the Crusaders overtook the Blues to secure third place on the ladder. The late surge has earned the defending champions a home playoff clash and injected even more intrigue into an already explosive finals series.

Top seeds Hurricanes will launch the 2026 Finals campaign when they host the ACT Brumbies at Hnry Stadium in Wellington on Friday, 5 June. Having dominated much of the regular season, the Hurricanes enter the playoffs as favourites, but the battle-hardened Brumbies will be eager to spoil the party.

Saturday promises even more drama. The defending champion Crusaders welcome the Blues to Christchurch in a classic New Zealand showdown that could easily be worthy of a Grand Final. With both teams packed with international stars and rich playoff history, fireworks are expected from the opening whistle.

The final Qualifying Final sees the Chiefs host the Queensland Reds at FMG Stadium Waikato in Hamilton. The Chiefs finished just four points behind the Hurricanes and will be determined to continue their impressive campaign, while the Reds arrive with confidence after a strong finish to the regular season.

The stakes could not be higher.

The three winners from the Qualifying Finals will automatically progress to the Semi-Finals. The highest-ranked losing team will also advance as the competition's "lucky loser."

However, there is a significant twist in the 2026 format. Unlike previous seasons, the lucky loser will automatically become the lowest seed in the Semi-Finals, meaning they lose any opportunity to host a Semi-Final or Grand Final regardless of future results.

With six elite teams still dreaming of lifting the trophy, every tackle, every turnover, and every point could determine who survives and who goes home.
