HURRICANES END DROUGHT IN HISTORIC FASHION

The Hurricanes produced one of the most dominant performances ever witnessed in Super Rugby history, crushing the Gallagher Chiefs 60-5 in Wellington to claim the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific title.

Ten years after their last championship triumph, the Hurricanes returned to the summit in spectacular fashion, delivering a ruthless display that shattered records and left the Chiefs with no answers.

From the opening whistle, the Hurricanes were unstoppable. Josh Moorby struck first before Ruben Love ignited the home crowd with a brilliant solo effort. The hosts then tightened their grip through Fehi Fineanganofo, whose 17th try of the season saw him become the competition's all-time single-season try-scoring record holder.

The Chiefs struggled to cope with the Hurricanes' pace, precision and relentless pressure. By halftime, the hosts held a commanding 29-0 lead, the largest ever recorded in a Super Rugby Final.

The second half brought more punishment. Moorby joined Fineanganofo on 17 tries for the season, while Devan Flanders, Jordie Barrett and Jone Rova all crossed the line. Love was magnificent throughout, contributing 25 points and producing moments of pure brilliance.

Although Naitoa Ah Kuoi scored a late consolation try, the night belonged entirely to the Hurricanes, whose historic 60-5 victory became the biggest winning margin ever in a Super Rugby Grand Final.
