Johor produced one of the greatest comebacks in Piala Agong history to defeat Terengganu 34-26 and lift the 2026 Piala Agong title in a thrilling final at Stadium UiTM, Shah Alam.

Terengganu looked unstoppable in the opening stages, racing into a commanding 19-0 lead with fast-paced attacks and relentless pressure. However, Johor refused to surrender. Displaying remarkable character and determination, they fought their way back with three unanswered tries to trail by just 17-19 at halftime, setting up a breathtaking second half.
With momentum firmly on their side, Johor dominated after the break, completing an unforgettable comeback to secure a 34-26 victory and claim their third Piala Agong title.
The triumph was the perfect reward for a team that had come so close in recent years, finishing runners-up in both 2024 and 2025. Guided by head coach Rodney So'oialo and team manager Faizal Hassan, Johor completed a flawless campaign after topping Pool B with four wins, crushing Kuala Lumpur 75-26 in the quarterfinals and edging Kelantan 32-29 with a last-play penalty in a dramatic semifinal.
Terengganu also deserved enormous credit for a magnificent season. They remained unbeaten until the final and captured the nation's attention by eliminating three-time defending champions PDRM in a thrilling semifinal, proving they are among Malaysia's elite rugby teams.
Johor's Aqasha Daniel Irwan was named Best Player of the Final after delivering an outstanding performance in the championship decider.
Earlier, Kelantan secured third place with a thrilling 43-41 victory over PDRM in another entertaining contest.
