BEST OF ASIA SET TO BATTLE IN SEVENS SERIES

The stage is set for another thrilling battle for Asian rugby supremacy as the Asia Rugby Sevens Series, powered by Emirates, returns in 2026.

Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious rugby sevens competitions in Asia, the Series brings together the continent’s finest teams. Twelve men’s teams and 12 women’s teams will battle across two action-packed rounds, with every match carrying valuable points and plenty of pride.

The opening round heads to Suzhou, China, on 29–30 August, before the Series reaches its climax in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 17–18 October.

Four teams will make their Series debut after earning promotion through the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy in Muscat. India and Kazakhstan join the men’s competition, while Iran and Uzbekistan step into the women’s Series.

The competition promises plenty of star power. Hong Kong’s Bryn Phillips, Korea’s Yeonsik Jeong and Japan’s Haruhiko Uemura headline the men’s players to watch. In the women’s competition, Hong Kong’s Julia Mba Oyana, Japan’s Michiyo Suda and China’s Keyi Chen will be among the players expected to shine.

Hong Kong arrive as defending men’s champions, while Japan will defend their women’s crown.

With every team chasing maximum points, Suzhou could set the tone for the entire championship. A strong opening-round performance will be crucial before the teams head to Colombo for the final showdown.

Fast, fearless and unpredictable, Asian rugby sevens is ready for another spectacular season.
